What Happens in Vegas

For Memorial Day Weekend, I took a trip to Sin City to see what all the hype is about; gambling, clubs, pool parties, food, and pickpocketers (RIP to my iPhone 6). Without a phone, and consequently without the FBL-food bucket list we crafted before the trip, we were left to explore and select restaurants  the old school way. Our first find was Hash House A Go Go, a 24/7 All-American spot located in the LINQ Hotel and Casino. If you’re looking to get your money’s worth, you’ll get that and then some. I went with the Tractor Driver Combo which comes with two eggs your way, bacon, sausage, or potatoes, and a Hash House signature pancake. For a dollar more you can upgrade to a Hash House famous Flapjack. I couldn’t resist the offer and upgraded to the Brown Sugar Banana Flapjack. The flapjack just the right amount of sweetness with a heaping helping of bananas, and the potatoes were uniquely seasoned. Our Fatboi friend Jourdan went with the Hash House Original: two basted eggs over a fresh biscuit with griddled mash potatoes, smoked bacon, fresh tomato, fresh spinach and roasted red pepper cream. The roasted red pepper cream was surprisingly sweet and made the dish. Wandering through Caesar’s Palace later that night, we stumbled upon a unique Chinese restaurant, Beijing Noodle No. 9. There are goldfish in those tanks, how cool!!After perusing the extensive 14-page menu, we went with the Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Chicken Chow Mein, Shrimp and Chive Dumplings, and the Seafood Wonton Cantonese Style Soup. On Saturday we took a break from the ratchetness of LV and embarked on a 14-hour journey to the Hoover Dam and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. To refuel after our hike, we stopped at the Bright Angel Lodge for a sweet treat. Just look at that incredible view!Upon our return we immediately piled into a Lyft to the nearest In-N-Out Burger. Luckily we had a leg up on the game and knew about their secret menu. We ordered their classic single, single animal style, cheese fries, and animal style fries. Animal Style packs on cheese, grilled onions, and thousand island dressing to any menu item of your choice!Unfortunately with our time constraints we didn’t get to hit as many places as we had hoped, we’ll have to take another trip in the future! All in all it was a memorable trip and I highly recommend going!

*Special thanks to Fatboi friend Jourdan for taking these awesome pics as I was left phoneless, and for being a great pal all around!

My ratings are as follows:

Hash House A Go Go: Guy Fieri          IMG_0603

One of the more reasonably priced spots, with the most generous portions!

Beijing Noodle No. 9: Salsa Verde

Tasty and a nice atmosphere.

In-N-Out Burger: Ice Cold Brewski

A must-try if you’re out West, especially for the secret menu items!
